Editorial: Anti-fragility

Photography, Styling & Set Design by Milam Huynh

This project is a response to Anti-fragility and a response to the world’s current situations. It is to explore growth from chaos, how humans can gain and thrive from being exposed to disorder, risk, stressors, and randomness.

I have chosen to explore conscious vulnerability as a concept of anti-fragile. Vulnerability is an amazing thing that exists within us – the risks, emotional exposure, and uncertainty that we face in everyday life are not optional and our willingness to show up and face these obstacles is greatly daring. Vulnerability is not weakness, it is our strength, our courage to be deeply seen. To protect ourselves from being vulnerable is a measure of our fear and disconnection.

Emotional exposure: Someone who is vulnerable is someone who is completely and rawly open, with their heart unguarded, with their mind and soul completely surrendered.

Connection and Joy:

Vulnerability contains both negative and positive emotions. Our negative emotions are just as important and relevant as our positive ones, the more we are exposed to negative emotions, the more we can grow, connect and thrive.

Willingness to go towards the unknown:

Uncertainty and the unknown are the single most scary obstacles of our lives. Our willingness to engage in the clarity of our purpose and step into the unknown despite the outcomes takes courage.

Hardwire, being deeply seen: Humans are hardwired, we are the connector to all things, consciously and subconsciously. We are the earth, nature, the universe – life and death are not enemies, we are the conversations between them. The connection to all things that exist explains our purpose in existing. To live and feel passionately and to be deeply seen.
